Financial Risks of Private Firms
This dissertation explores three sources of private firms’ financial risk. The first chapter investigates whether criminal CEOs and employees are associated with firms’ likelihood of bankruptcy and their cost of debt. The second chapter examines whether differences in access to governments’ financial support during the COVID-19 pandemic affect firms’ likelihood of bankruptcy. The third chapter investigates whether the cost of debt of small- and medium-sized enterprises is associated with their environmental activities. Ìý
