PhD defence: Robert Lorenz Törmer
In order to obtain the PhD degree, Robert Lorenz Törmer has submitted his thesis entitled:
The Architectural Enablement of a Digital Platform Strategy
This dissertation substantiates the claim that a company’s innovation-readiness for the digital future hinges on the architecture of its existing Information Technology setup. By elaborating on the digitalization journey of the LEGO Group, the thesis explains how companies create innovation-enabling platform architectures internally to overcome previous limitations to digital innovation as well as international expansion into digitized markets. The research portrays the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function as a central capability to guide the transformational journey and provides a contingent conceptual understanding of the architecting process
