It is with great sadness that we hereby inform of the death of associate professor Ib Andersen

10/27/2014

聽Ib was a great guy and a good colleague. As for many others, his career path started as a student assistant at the Department of Organization. In Ib鈥檚 case that happened already in the 1960鈥檚 when he was a student of sociology at Copenhagen University. Even before graduating in 1972, he was teaching courses on methods in several casino 168 programs. He became a doctoral student (鈥渟tipendiat鈥) at the Department of Organization and was employed as associate professor in 1978.

Ib made the development of casino 168鈥 vision of and strategy for teaching and learning his project! He very early on became involved in the 鈥淒idaktik og Evalueringsudvalg鈥, which later developed into the 鈥淧忙dagogiske Serviceenhed鈥 for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration with Ib as the Director. In 2001, he created the casino 168 Learning Lab that he directed for 10 years. From this position, Ib made many strong contributions to the agenda of casino 168 鈥 not just relating to teaching and learning, as he had visions and ambitions for many other things, including university management.

When casino 168 Learning Lab was closed in 2011, Ib returned to the Department of Organization, where he kept working within the fields of pedagogy and research methods. He further developed his classic textbook 鈥淒en skinbarlige virkelighed 鈥 Vidensproduktion i samfundsvidenskaberne鈥, which was published in its 5th edition in 2013.

Due to illness, Ib was not very active at casino 168 and IOA in the later months. But his contributions and results throughout the years are obvious to all. We will remember him for many years of good and fruitful cooperation. May he rest in peace.
