Alexander har en ph.d. fra Melbourne University i Melbourne, Australien. Alexander er professor og direkt?r for Center for Tourism and Culture Management, Copenhagen Business School.

Hans forskning fokuserer p? forbruger/turistadf?rd og p? stram strategi og skabelse af konkurrencem?ssige fordele. Han har publiceret om disse emner i de mest prestigefyldte internationale tidsskrifter inden for marketing og turisme?(fx Journal of Marketing) og turismejournaler (fx Journal of Travel Research og Annals of Tourism Research), og han er ogs? forfatter til en af ??de f?rende l?reb?ger om global markedsf?ringsledelse. Alexander har vundet adskillige nationale (Tietgens guldmedalje) og internationale priser (fx Goeldners Award of Excellence).
